Major Tier 1 Automotive Supplier
The Casting Company was approached with the idea of making a prototype utilizing the Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) process for a new component idea that was born in the design department, but had not actually been made.
Problem: For this project time was not the issue, but the customer wanted a robust part that could simulate material that might be used in production. The material chosen was PH1. It is similar to a 15-5 stainless steel.
Solution: Components were made in a few days and shipped.
Results: Customer feedback was positive and component design is currently being tested. If approved production volumes could be in the millions.
